God Winked and There Was Laughter

As you may have noticed, in some of my writing I am inclined to "lighten up" here and there. In doing this, especially when I may be dealing with something as undeniably important and serious as our relationship with God and the things of God, I am always fearful that some of you may take offense or feel I am being irresponsibly disrespectful. Please be assured I will never intentionally be irreverent, offend anyone, step beyond the bounds of good taste, or contradict what our Church teaches.
I also want you to know my attempts at “religious” humor stem from a sincere belief that a sense of humor, like our five traditional senses, is part of God’s creation and that God, Himself, having become truly human in the person of Jesus, must certainly have seen and reacted to things humorous. Perhaps that is why I feel humor and religion can be acceptably compatible.
Maybe I can best explain why I am drawn to religious humor by telling you that deep down inside, where things don’t have to be explained or proven, it somehow makes sense to me that ---
God breathed and there was life.
He willed -- there was hereafter.
God touched and there was love.
God winked and there was laughter.
