Kitchen Catechism: Eye on The Pope

John Paul II Reflects on Vatican II

The Second Vatican Council began in 1962 and concluded in 1965. It has now been forty years since all the changes started - with some people thinking the changes were wonderful - some thinking they were terrible - and most thinking a lot were good, some bad and some outright destructive.

Pope John Paul II, who was intricately involved in the Council, recently made this statement:

"With the passing of the years, the Vatican Council's documents have lost nothing of their value or brilliance. They need to be read correctly, to be widely known and taken to heart as important and normative texts of the Magisterium, within the Church's tradition."

Not everyone, all the time likes changes and we know from the many requests we have gotten for a Kitchen Prayer women used to see on their mothers or grandmothers kitchen walls that their hearts often long for the old and familiar.

Our hearts rejoiced when one of our readers was so kind as to research it and find the 'out of print book' -- it was in on the Internet. Therefore, this month's prayer will be: Lord of all Pots and Pans!
